Itsatashathing: Parenting goals

Hi everyone,

So when your pregnant I guess everyone starts planning ahead for when their child gets older. We've been doing this a lot recently saying what we will and won't do.

I thought I'd make a list of the things we've said and see if we stick to them.

1. Sweet allowance! When our little girl gets to about 4/5 I want them to have something nice but not to over indulge in sweets. What we've said is when we go to do our shopping on a Friday or Saturday they can have £1. It's up to then what they want to do with the £1. If they want to use it wisely and but 5 packs for £1 or buy 1 thing for the pound that's their decision. Whatever they buy will be given in small allowances throughout the week.

2. No squash! We're going to try and stay with just milk and water for as long as possible. When she starts school we may introduce squash but only a very weak amount.

3. If we say no we mean no! Easy to say but not so easy to do. If we say no to having something that's how it stays.

4. Following through on discipline. Again if we say no tele, we mean no tele. I believe its all to easy to say these things and go back on them. To me a child is then going to think 'oh mummy and daddy don't mean that when they say it, I can do it again next time.' That's not what we want. We don't want to be strict but there's boundaries.

5. Pocket money! Sort of like the sweet thing but I believe it should be earned. Nothing comes for free in life and that to me is a valuable life lesson. By this I don't mean making a 4 year old sweep and mop the floors. It's just simple things like if they get their toys out, they need to pack them away.

That's what we have put together and I hope we can stick to this. Did you think of things like this and didn't go to plan? Or, did you think of things and stuck to them through the tough times? Let me know in the comments!

Itsatashathing: Pregnancy update it's a...

GIRL!!

Hi everyone,

So yesterday I went for my anomaly scan at the hospital. Everything went absolutely fine! Baby is developing well and everything is as expected. Baby is weighing in at a pound at the moment!

I'm also very excited to reveal that we are having a little girl! I honestly couldn't believe it when she told us that we were having a little girl. My boyfriend and I came over very emotional I didn't know quite what to do I think I was just in shock. I was almost certain we were having a boy. I didn't have a preference of gender but as a little girl myself I always dreamed of having a little girl myself.

We went shopping after and I think this is when it really hit me about having a girl. We brought a couple of little pink items of clothing. I will do a baby haul at some point.

We can't wait to meet our little princess!

Itsatashathing: Pregnancy update!

Hi everyone,

Things have been a little bit manic with baby this last week trying to sort things out and I haven't done one of these since telling you about my pregnancy. I thought as I'm 19 weeks today I would do a little update.

Myself and my boyfriend felt the baby kick/move for the very first time on Tuesday (5th July) and we both got really excited as it feels all the more real now. The feeling I get are as if there is a butterfly in me, as if someone's popping bubbles in me or I have a rumble in my belly. If my boyfriend is listening really closely to baby he said he can hear little bubbles and the sound of being under water. Also baby is doing the majority of responding to Daddy so my thoughts of a baby boy may be wrong and baby could be a daddy's girl?

I have a bump! People who haven't seen me were expecting more of one. I'm quite thankful if that's the case as it means less work after baby's born!

I'm becoming tired quicker than what I did before. At about 2 o'clock I'm ready for a nap!

I finally have my 20 week scan date through! This will be happening when I am 26 weeks pregnant! I am going to try and change it to see if there is any easier or anyone has cancelled. I feel it's to long to wait and we really want to find out whether we are having a boy or girl.

I also want to start a bit of a poll. Boy or girl? (Scan picture below.) Write it in the comments below.

Let me know boy or girl? I will be announcing with a special post after my scan!
